Snow and Ski Report - January 23

A couple recent snowfalls in the area have helped ski resorts in Western North Carolina build a nice base of snow for winter sports. Cataloochee Ski Area Snow Report

Cataloochee features skiing on ten slopes with 3 aerial lifts and 2 surface lifts operating on a base of 36-58 inches and a machine worked surface.

Current conditions at Cataloochee:

Wolf Ridge Ski Report Snow Report

Wolf Laurel is seeing its best ski conditions so far this season, and is now open all the way to the top. Visitors will fiond 13 slopes open, and five lifts open.

Conditions at Wolf Ridge:

  • Surface Conditions - Groomed
  • Slopes Open - 13
  • Lifts Open - 5
  • Snowmaking - yes, as temperature and conditions permit

Snow and Ski Report - January 2

Snowfall today provided a great boost to snow depth at area winter sports attractions. Luckily, the snowfall is pretty clear on area roads, but visitors will still get the benefits of added snow at the ski, snowboarding and snow tubing resorts in Western North Carolina.

Snow and Ski Report from Cataloochee

We have received 2 inches of natural snow and the snow is forcast to continue into Wednesday. Snow making weather is in the forecast for most of the upcoming week and we will begin to make snow as quickly as the temperatures allow. On Wednesday, we will be skiing on seven slopes with 3 aerial lifts and 2 surface lift operating on a base of 20-36 inches and a machine worked surface. Tube World in Maggie Valley will reopen Thursday morning at 10am.

Current conditions:

  • Depth of Base - 20"-36"
  • Surface - Packed Powder
  • Trails/Lifts Operating - 7/5
  • Night Skiing - Yes

Snow and Ski Report from Wolf Laurel

The recent snowfall is resulting in more winter sports terrain expected to be open this week. As of this morning, Wolf Laurel received four inches of fresh snow. There are now five slopes open, as well as three lifts.

  • Surface Conditions - Natural and Manmade Powder
  • Slopes Open - 5
  • Lifts Open - 3
  • Snowmaking - Yes, as temperature and conditions permit

Western North Carolina Ski and Snow Report - December 27

It may be early in the winter sports season, but there are already lots of opportunities to ski, snowboard and snow tube. We also just got a little wintery weather, particularly in higher elevations, that will help with the snow conditions at Western North Carolina ski resorts.

Snow and Ski Report from Cataloochee Ski Area


Cataloochee is skiing on seven slopes with 3 aerial lifts and 2 surface lift operating on a base of 24-48 inches and a machine worked surface. They are offering three day skiing sessions, twilight skiing and night skiing. The ski area's Tube World is also open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Wolf Laurel Ski Resort is getting into the swing of winter, with five slops and three lifts open. The resort's snow tubing is also open.
